Info help with Kato N scale Coalporters

Bought a 8-car set sometime ago and only just took them out today. Darnest thing, the cars are shorting out DCC’s! DOes anyone also have a set of these? Is it because of the metal wheel sets? I also have Kato passenger cars with metal wheel sets too but they are not shorting DCC out…I cannot figure it out why…[%-)]

Never heard of this problem, But heres a though get one of the wheels and get the voltage meter and the same way you test too see if the thing is working (by touching the two rods) touch one rod on the one side and do the same for the other side of the wheel, and see if power is going through. If power is going through then it must be the wheels. Any chance you can add plastic wheels on them just to test. Also does each car do the same thing?

Thanks for the suggestion.

I think I figured it out what was wrong. They have brass leaf spring thingy on the bottom of the cars acting as ‘springs’ as indicated by the box as ‘cushioned design’ and some of them are sort of loose may be from shipping an touching the wheels. Sling tapping made the leaves go back to position and some has improper eated wheels. All are good now!
