“Riding the Iron Rooster” by Paul Theroux was an excellent book about his personal experiences riding in China, Mongolia, and Eastern Russia. Not a text book, per se, but if your project isn’t due right away you might want to look for it. Copies are usually cheap on ebay, or maybe in your library.
