Looking for a train that was made for Ingersoll-Rand Corp a couple years back?
Can you help us out with some more details? Was this to commemerate some event? A whole train or a locomotive. Any idea what size or scale?
As I recall Ingersoll-Rand used to make the diesel engine prime movers for Alco. So if they had a model made to commemerate something I would guess it would be a custome painted up Alco PA or RS-3.
Are you talking about the MDC Boxcab diesel, which is a model of an Alco-GE-Ingersoll-Rand built loco? This was offered with an I-R paint job.

Ingersol Rand made the first ever production diesel locomotive, there is one at the Illinois Railway Museum that went into the dock for a swim and was then hoisted out and put back to work, a model was made of one ages ago but i cant remember who made it, a friends got one but there is no name on it
this is the link to it http://www.irm.org/cgi-bin/rsearch.cgi?diesel=Delaware+Lackawanna+&+Western=3001
It was made as a replica diesel engine. I think it was brass. Don’t know if it was HO or N scale. Probably made about 35-40 years ago.
Thanks for all the replies.
Just sent e-mail reply, my freinds bringing it into work for me to photograph tommorow,
Well i got the Ingersoll- Rand train to photograph today and here it is, this model is HO scale and is based on one which was built for CI & N, not sure wheather it was a railroad company or industrial user. The prototype’s were built between 1924 and 1928 by Alco and were fitted with a 6 cylinder 4 stroke 300HP Ingersoll-Rand diesel engine developing 224KW, this was connected to a GEC generator powering 4 nose suspended traction motors
This model has a motor which drives both trucks from one gear wheel, the drive is sent to the trucks along a horizontal shaft. There are no manufacturers marks of any kind on it either on the cast metal chassis or in the plastic body so i have not got a clue who made this model
That’s DEFINITELY the MDC model, the older one before they added the flywheel (or the builder did not install the flywheel - it’s mostly useless anyway). I don’t knwo if that paint scheme was factory, but just looking at the chassis pictures tells me that’s the MDC model.
For more on the prototype (and lotsof pictures), go here: [ur]http://my.execpc.com/~jcampbel/ageir.html[/url]

You will see there are detail variations among nearly every unit built, and the MDC model is closest to only 1 unit. Someone custom detailed one for a specific Reading unit and sold it on ebay, I saved the pictures so I can attempt the same kitbash with my one complete unit and spare shell. One of these days…
