INOX

Anyone use INOX for track cleaning? If so, what is your experience with it?

According to the INOX web site, it’s a lubricant, not track cleaner. Until your question, I’d never heard of it.

There has been an on-going debate here for years about the advisability of putting any type of oil on the track – some swear by it and others swear at it.

Want to try it? Let us know how it works out.

Well, I found the above link, and if you scroll down to a poster with the handle of NSWGR1855, said poster uses inox. I did check the INOX web site and reached the same conclusion that you did, cacole (in fact the web site says that it is also non-conductive), but I decided to try it out and have applied some to a one foot section of track. Sprayed it on a clean cotton cloth and then siped the rail with the cloth. Before it was applied, my Bachmann 44T switcher hesitated/stopped and after waiting about 30 minutes I ran the loco over the track again at a low speed and it ran right through. However, given the on-going debate that you have noted, I thought I would ask if anyone else has tried it. There does not appear to be any traction issue, but then again I only have a short 5 foot section that is sloped and I did not use that part of the layout for the test.
