INPUT APPRECIATED

Here is another overhead snap of the HO tank farm that my grandson and I are building. The piping which will be installed on the overhead rack system is not in place yet. If anyone has any input, or suggestions, Corbyn and I would appreciate all comments.

Thanx

I have different era equipment on my layout. The transitional diesel and steam are used for railfanning trips. My main source of revenue is a coal mine, so those trains are moved with modern power. I notice you have what looks like an SD unit on the upper level with a couple of F or E units on the lower level.

Good eye. The loco on the upper level is the only loco I have purchased. All of the rest of the rolling stock is at least 35 years old. There are 17 locos and about 45 freight and 12 passenger cars. These run fine on our DC layout. Corbyn (12 years old) and I are fine with these older cars and locos until we replace all of the 35 year old sectional brass track.

The one thing I see missing would be retaining berms around your tanks. I believe they are required and have been for some time. Transition era layouts can get away without them, but yours looks a bit more modern. Otherwize, with a little more “finishing”, I think you are doing OK.

Glad to hear your grandson is helping you. So far two of mine have move and showed little interest, but I wasn’t as far along when they were growing up. The other two live a little too far away and are a bit “bull in the china shop” to be around the delicate parts. Little patience and want to crash things. Maybe they’ll calm down.

Have fun,

Richard
