Do you guys think I should continue doing the where is its like I have been, or should I wait to reveal the answers so those that don’t come in here till later in the day can have a shot at guessing?
How about some hints for the clueless?[;)] Anyway you do it is fine with me. For just a fleeting moment there, I thought I could get my second one right ever! Alas, it wasn’t to be.[xx(]

CHAD; I have enjoyed your postings, but not being Very “California literate”, They make it kinda tough… Maybe some more overt clues after the initial post would be helpful…At least for me, anyway!! At anyrate they are interesting.
Thanks,
Sam
Sam, They are not all California, but sience I have lived here most of my life (in different areas) there is going to be a high percentage that is. As for the clues you have to look hard at the picture. Yes, some have no apparent clue but there are still clues. The surrounding vegitation and trees (or lack thereof), the color of the dirt & balast, kind of ties & rail (CWR,jointed) and the signal type & code line are all subtle clues. Then there is the rolling stock. I almost always use pix with lead units on home rails (or normal rights) but that doesn’t mean I will not though you guys a curveball sometimes. Locomotives themselves could be the clue to. If it’s a SW1500 chances are it’s not on a transcon main outside of town and if it’s a SD90MAC it’s probably not switching a branch. The cars are a big clue too. If it’s a coal drag it’s probably not in California just as a doublestack is probably not in the Powder River basin.
When it comes right down to it, most of the time you just had to have been there to recognize the location. You guys back east are at a disadvantage unles you have traveled out west just as I would be clueless identifying locations back east (unless I would be lucky enough to have seen and remember a picture).
I wish I had more of my own shots from around here to take another stab at a Midwestern “Where Is It”, but I didn’t really get into photographing trains until I bought my Digital Rebel three years ago. Anyone want to collaborate on that? I could make copies of shots from someone else’s extensive collection and host the uncaptioned copy on my rrpicturearchives site. I would prefer someone who’s been around as many states as possible in the central US, say from the Rockies to the Appalachians, maybe limiting it to states north of the Ohio, so that someone else could take a shot at putting together a Southern “Where Is It”. I’d handle starting and moderating the threads.
Just a thought, but have you considered putting these all into one ‘franchise’ thread where as the days go by, the thread title gets updated as each new "where is it? " is added (like the “recently I saw” and “questions” thread).
It would make it easier for us to look at all the pictures again, without having to hunt down each individual thread. seperately.
