I have been on several railfan tours in Europe since the restoration was announced and, based on my discussions with many other railway enthusiasts, there will be thousands of railfans from all over the world descending on the WY/UT/CO area as soon as an estimated date is announced for the first movement of 4014 under its own power, no matter how many years it takes. Can’t wait!!!
I have seen the Big Boy a few times at the L.A. County Fair. I can’t wait to see it in action under steam. Thanks, Union Pacific!
Since my boyhood dream of one day riding the cab of the Big Boy, is totally impossible, surely there will be some video showing it being moved up the hill that I, at least, could watch that and dream!? CM
Looking forward to all the reports on the Big Boys. I had a chance to see them in action in Wyoming many years ago. Always a big thrill.

I have a Lionel Big Boy locomotive for my layout. I have always had a spot in my heart for the Big Boy. This past summer my wife and I went on the Horseshoe Curve tour with the NKP 765. I would love to go on a tour with the Big Boy someday. We would also like to go with the N&W 611,once it back in action. I guess if you have worked on a railroad it just gets into your blood and never gets out no matter how you get. Thanks,Joe
Skied in the Sierras on the old US 40. Remember cab aheads - -what a sight and sound.! Hope to see 4014 come over Donner Summit someday. A marvelous historical resurrection
Other than the cab forward this is my favorite locomotive and I am going to watch all of the reports that Trains puts out. I am 80 yrs. old and I am hoping to see it run.
