As I was told very early when I first began working in the HVAC Industry in 1970 everything man makes can, will and does fail in time and because of this proper inspections and maintenance are a necessary part of keeping things going. Maintenance isn’t always a highly technical task but still a very import thing. One or more is 100% responsible for these cables getting this way. End result those responsible should be looking for a new job. After some 38 years in the maintenance world (retiring at age 60 ) I seen my share of those that cut corners creating major issues.

HAYS - Don’t use the term track inspectors - for years they have been called “Track Walkers” for union and pay scale reasons. The Track Walkers do not inspect electrical items (that is another union’s job) and then have no authority to force any repairs, all track work is in another department (and I believe another union) and they set the priority for all work. This is part of the problem the NTSB has described, there is no clear authority or responsibility for any of these items.

Obviously METRO doesn’t have a nightly or weekly maintenance plan in place. And where did they get the personnel - to perform all this in one day? If they are all employees, what have then been doing to earn their pay up until now?

Have you noticed how we are dividing up jobs so nothing ever
gets done?
