I am in the process of building a small HO industrial switching layout and will be using Atlas code100 switches that I had on a layout some 10 years ago. They are automatic switches but after this long I cna’t guarantee that they will work properly and I am thinking of installing manual ground throws but I need to know how to attach them to the switches. I noticed from pictures in MR ads that the ones I have seen have a pin facing down but I don’t know what to attach it to. The layout is small so ground throws won’t be a problem. Any help will be appreciated. If anyone has a diagram I can follow that would also be a help. Thanks-Bob
Bob,
Try the Caboose Industries model 218. This comes with different adapters to fit a number of turnouts. This should fit the bill. They also make one just for Atlas trunouts - the 208. Good luck.
Also, you can take a look at the NMRA Beginner’s Pages. There is an article on installing ground throws at: http://www.nmra.org/beginner/ground_throw.html
