Installing Kadee delayed uncouplers

I really need some help on installing Kadee delayed uncouplers #321. I have Code 83 track on WS foam track bed. The directions say to remove the ties from the area to install the uncoupler and lay a bed of glue down. Using the glueing jig, insert the uncoupler on top of this glue bed and wait until it dries before removing jig. Ok! Great! The problem I have is that the glue never dries. It is such a tight fit that air cannot get in there. I have tried white glue and carpenter’s glue and the only way I have had success was to do it in layers. I thought about glueing a spacer (cardboard) first and then the glue bed to make it thinner. Not to sure of a good thickness for the spacer since there isn’t much tolerance. Does anyone have any ideas on this[sigh]

if its such a tight fit why does it have to be glued, perhaps use doublesided foam tape or carpet tape to hold in place

I guess tight fit is the wrong words. How about “…so closed in that air can’t get in to dry the glue.”

is this a foam or wood base? perhaps you could drill a few air holes at right angles to the opening so the glue can dry and then backfill the holes later with putty or caulk, if done right ballast would cover the holes anyway or weeds, etc.

It is Woodland Scenics Foam roadbed on a plywood sub-base. I am thinking that I need to try a different fast drying glue to see what happens. I take it that not many use this uncoupler or haven’t had any problems. I have some areas that will be hard to reach to uncouple by hand and this is all I have found to solve the problem (I hope!)[:D]

I have found out that when I use Kadee no. 5 Magnematic couplers I have the least problem of all.
