Installing NCE decoder, but a digitrax system lm having trouble.

Hi guys, can anyone help me, lm trying to install a D14SR into my loco,thats easy but my digitrax system will not make it work for some reason. The Loco is a CLP Austalian Loco (Austrains) simple plug and play but at the moment no play.

P N Assuming the loco ran ok before the install, the plug could be backwards or just not engaged far enough (I am assuming you have a D14SRP with the 9 pin flat plug) I had the same tussle with one of mine at first (NCE for MRC Advanced) but once the plug was home all the way, no worries. Before the plug was home the controller wouldn’t even try to acquire the loco. Hope that helps. J.R.

Ok, thanks J.R. l’ll try that now, the plug that is, its rather annoying at the moment

I agree, check for wiring errors. I use mostly NCE decoders in my locos, and haven’t had any problems programming them with my Digitrax system. It could also just be a bad decoder.

Always test on the program track first - that way if there are any wiring issues it won’t fry the decoder. If it won’t program, fix that before trying it on the main.
