Anyone got any clues or tips on how to do this or which ones are best to use?
I have a BLI N & W 4-8-4 that is “steam ready”

What brand of generator do you use?
Not too difficult.
- Create a hole thru the smokestack.
2 Install the smoke unit BLI or (Seuthe?) pronounced SZOY- tay.,
- wire across the +/- (motor?).
Keep a rag handy. Oil droplets form on the body. ‘SMOKE’ is heated oil forming a puffing haze. (MTH is experimening with water/steam heated with a non 12 volt system).
Smoke is a suspension of solids. It condenses on surfaces, drapes, windows, walls, TRACK.etc. (Cigarette smoke for example).
Which Seuthe unit do you use?
If I was to guess,#9 or #10, but consult your BLI paperwork for the correct one.
No matter what you install, I think you will be disappointed with the result. Smoke fluid leaves an oily film on everything around the layout, particularly the track.
