Can an interchange with another railroad be modeled as a dead-end spur off the mainline? Cars could be set out on the spur and changed out between “days” or operating sessions. Would this be pretty accurate? Thanks
That’s what I do with my interchange tracks. I set out cars, flip the waybills between the sessions and pull the cars in the next session.

A thousand ways to skin that cat. An interchange is simply a place where one railroad can pick up or drop off something for another railroad. You could use anything from a stub siding to a 200 track hump yard and be realistic. Wolfgang does it one way, I do it another. I have a crossing that represents an interchange, cars are set out on one side of the crossing by one line and picked up on the other by the next line.
