Good article. I was surprised that UP is dissapointed with this facilities performance so far. I think it is going to take some time for Global III to develop into a major intermodal facility. The dissapointed UP reps have to remember that this is a facility that is located central Illinois in the middle of a lot of farm fields, not the usual urban facility. The original vision for Global III was that the shipping companies would drive the extra milage to Rochelle to avoid congestion at other intermodal facilities closer to Chicago. Gas prices and truck driver shortages may have put a damper on that. The article also pointed out that UP might need to work on its pricing for Global III movements and the pricing issues also seem to stunting growth.

I am not surprised that there is not a lot of business. Rochelle is a long way from Chicago.
