Probably the webcam control software has dusk-dawn tables coded into it and doesn’t update the database according to the schedule.
That’s mostly correct – the server is programmed with the Rochelle sunrise and sunset times for every day of the year; ordinarily, it doesn’t snap pictures when it’s supposed to be dark.
It was possible to see objects due to the high amount of ambient light during Friday night’s snowstorm. An eastbound UP train came along and I manually snapped the picture Glen Ellyn saw.
