I’m in the process of building a detailed machine shop. I know there’s a simulated welder available. Does anyone know of a source for other details for HO that are out there (Tool boxes, workbench details, vises, grinders, etc.)?

Scale Structures (http://www.jaksind.com/) has lots of small detail parts.
J.L. Innovative (http://www.jlinnovative.com/) has a lot of stuff found around gas stations.
Most of these are unpainted metal castings.

I would also check out Model Tech Studios [link for HO scale]. They sell decent pre-painted resin castings of all sorts of scenery details including items for interiors. The pre-painted items are not that much more expensive than the unfinished items (what is your time worth?) For example:
