This IMHO is misleading. A standard freight car can carry 100 +/- tons. What can a container hold ? maybe 20 +/- tons. container tare wts ~~ 8500# +/-. most RR freight cars tare built today 25 + tons.

I do not understand the apparent point of the article; that being that the falloff in coal traffic is creating more business than before. How does that work?

The object isn’t how much tonnage you can move, its how much money you can make.
