Intermodal traffic up, carloads down in January
No surprise here. Coal has been declared evil by His Oneness in order to keep happy the kook environ-mentalists which are part of his life support group. Grain is down because in most of the Midwest, there was a drought and His Oneness is not all powerful enough to stop it.
This drought was caused by George W Bush’s weather making machine. That would be the same one which caused Katrina and again last year, the little windstorm and flood the east coast. As always, this is Bush’s fault.
If you believe that part about Bush, I have a bridge for sale.
Mr. Guse, you have been previously been asked to refrain from making politically tinged remarks on this forum by others. It would be appreciated if you would kindly restrict further remarks to factual comments that relate directly to the subject of the article.
I live in a state where we have lots of coal mining and, now, plenty of natural gas production, too, thanks to hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking.” Natural gas is now so cheap and abundant that many electricity producers are switching from coal to gas-fired plants. It’s about the economics!! But if you want to talk about the environment, extracting and burning all fossil fuels comes at a cost, but gas burns a lot cleaner than “‘clean’ coal” - there’s the oxymoron of the century! But I’ll bet someone here has a big supply of coal for the stove in his survivalist bunker.
