I just picked up the locomotive in the subject and I find myself with a couple questions:
-
What are the two flat plates that came in the detail bag? I know what the sunshades are, but these two square pieces have me completely vexed.
-
Is it easily converted to Kadees? I don’t care for the couplers Intermountain uses and I know a few of their freight cars I have had narrow coupler boxes that Kadees don’t drop into.
Thanks
They did look like drop steps to me, but I wasn’t entirely sure.
Good to know they’re Kadees already in there too.
You should also have some round painted discs. it took me awhile to realize they are the discs that are normally covers on top of the center of the radiator fans. With time many roads either removed these one at a time or they fell off.
Yes the flat pieces are the walkway steps for crossing between units. Most all second gen locos had these. Sometimes they are hard to see in pix as they are in the down position. Unlike some atlas walkway parts, these fit very well on the intermountain. There is a small recessed spot already there therefore easy to glue.
