Internal siding into a Walthers Modular structure

I am planning a multi-story HO structure featuring an internal siding. I’d like to use Walthers Modular components, although I’m open to other approaches. With the Walthers modulars, I’ll need to add a foundation at least 3/4" high, to give adequate vertical clearance for the siding. I’d appreciate it if someone could tell me how much height the Walthers Modular Foundation and Dock kit will add. I’m guessing about 1/2". but the Walthers description doesn’t say. I’d also appreciate tips (and pictures!) of how others constructed buildings with internal sidings.

I measured the foundations for you.

The foundation piece is 1.1 cm high, therefore this thickness adds to the height of a modular building. The height of the loading dock is 1.4 cm high, but it does not add to the height of a modular building because it rests in front of the foundation.

I don’t know the answer to your other requist.

I’m not familiar with the Walthers Modulars, but I did use .060" sheet styrene to make foundations for Design Preservation modular buildings. One layer matches the thickness of the wall, and you can overlay an additional piece under the pilasters between the bays.

Here’s a couple of Walthers George Roberts Printing Company kitbashed together on my layout. The internal siding area is part of the kit.

If you scratchbuild your structure, you can tailor the siding area to suit your needs, like the structure in the background. The door on the left is mainly for the delivery of machinery, so the height provides plenty of clearance.

The covered hopper loading track, on the right above, was purposely made too low for locomotives and some freight cars, so an idler car (flat or gondola) is required when cars are spotted or picked-up.

this building is a walthers modular building all i did was put the building on 1\4 inch foam core board and that pretty much put it at the right hieght, i have the dock pieces but couldn’t find them for the picture i am in transition from front room to basement
