Internet controllable model RR

I think this is the only currently operating browser controlled internet model railroad. It is N scale with Atlas locomotives and the control system is currently capable of running two locomotives and 8 auxiliary relay operated devices (turnouts, lighting, and etc.). It will also program locomotives to the addresses it uses - 3 or 4. More details on the site.

very cool

I can just see it now…hackers taking charge of your layout. LOL.

Looks like they did it the hard way - Building and programming their own proprietary hardware.

But JMRI has had this ability built in for years, and it works with virtually any off-the-shelf layout control system so you aren’t stuck with one vendor’s hardware:

Interesting - are there any JMRI sites on line? Does this software, the web server in JMRI, run on your PC? When I searched I could not find an operating on line model RR.

I will also note that my unit connects directly via Ethernet to the router, generates DCC track drive, and requires no other hardware. The PC does not have to be on and I believe that by not using PC based software the system is much more secure. If someone hacks into my model RR server, yes they might stop the train and perhaps create the need to reflash the server program, but at least they are not also loading viruses on my PC.

Different … I inadvertantly ran one train into the back of the other and everything stayed on the track ! LOL
