Internet Shopping

What has been your experience within the last year when ordering from either
Standard Hobby Supply or Trainworld??? I’m looking at a Locomotive to buy
but I do not want to be in for a hassel with some far off company.
The “Harven”

Trainworld is first class, great prices and prompt shipping. I’m in Canada and have had nothing but great service from them. Check out their website for prices that cannot be beat!

I’ve ordered flex track from Standard Hobby a couple of times, and have also ordered things from Trainworld. I’ve not had a problem with either of them.

I have had no problems with Standard Hobby for years. I do, however only order items they show in stock. Some just order whatever they are looking for without checking stock and then *** when they don’t get their order.

You might also check M.B. Klein at www.modeltrainstuff.com for deals similar to Trainworld. Both of these companies have large inventories of out-of-production locomotives from years past, still new and in the box. These are the ones they sell at “blowout” prices. Check both of them, because the models and road names will differ, and you may find exactly what you want at one or the other location only.

Both of these companies are honest, reliable dealers.

Both have been around for a long time and are reliable merchants. Their background is traditional mail order, they really are not “internet” merchants.

I have ordered from Standard Hobbies, Model Train Stuff and Discount Trains Online and had no problems with any of them. Although Canada Customs did open my DTO order, nothing was missing.

Another thumbs up. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with both Trainworld and Standard Hobbies… including a problem with a locomotive I bought from Standard, and was cheerfully given a refund.

jsoderq makes a good suggestion when he advises that not everything listed is always in stock (at ANY internet dealer). If it’s something you need promptly, call in your order to check availability rather than using the on-line shopping cart.

We are fortunate in our hobby to have many reputable on-line dealers… I’m impressed with:

and as you mentioned:
www.trainworld.com and www.standardhobby.com

I’m sure there are others.

(Edited to make correction referred to below)

I like the selection on Internet Hobbies, but the only internet shopping I’ve done is on e-Bay, and have got many superb deals on there!

Sorry one correction in your list. It’s www.1stplacehobbies.com

Love that place. Flex track for $1.99

I buy Champs Decals from the internet several times a year. I want to get as much from thier dwindling stock before it’s all gone.

http://www.minot.com/~champ/

I usually order thru my LHS. By supporting the stores here in Arkansas it’s keeps food on the table for thier families and in business. =)

I noticed one internet store missing from the lists. I have had nothing but good experiences with http://www.internnetrains.com They have redone their website and their new search features are smoking.

I have ordered once from Standard and multiple times from Trainworld in the last year and had excellent experiences from both suppliers. I also have had good luck with M. B. Klein. I am finding that searching the bargain areas of Trainworld and M. B. Klein is at least as productive as spending time looking for bargains on the auction site.

I have only order from trainworld once, i was going to order again but i was rather annoyed with the person i talked to. I called to find out if they had an engine i was looking for, i didn’t see the other number so i called the number to order stuff and tried to find out. the lady just made me mad. she did not make any kind of an effort to tell me what to do. She simply asked me to buy something or get off the line

Also, internet hobbies.com

1stplacehobbies.com is terrific. I’ve tried many of those mentioned, and 1stplace is my favorite.
