INTRODUCTION

Let me take a second to introduce myself. First, the knowledge on this forum is invaluable and everyone seems friendly and the “egos” don’t seem to exist. Everyone respects each others opinions and that is a good thing. Please don’t change. I go by the screenname, Hudson#685, for a couple of reasons. 1. It is the first engine that I ever owned. It came with my first set, #2201WS which I received for Christmas, 1953. 2. It is still my favorite engine. I am looking forward to sharing experiences, knowledge, techniques and friendships.

John

Welcome aboard!!! [#welcome] Isn’t if funny that some of our oldest locomotives are still are favorites.

Hudson —> [#welcome].

Leggo my ego…

HUDSON,

[#welcome] your not from SANDY EGGO?

laz57

[#welcome] Hudson.

I would like to state for the record that we are not old. Old is scientifically defined as 20 years older than I am. [;)] As for Hudsons, I have the 2046 and it is sitting on my track right now in front of a freight consist.

I preferred the Hornet, [oops] wrong forum. []

Welcome to the asylum forum, lots of good folks here. [^]

John

Welcome Hudson ! [bday] OOPS Wrong Sign ! [#welcome]

Oh, one of the nicest guys on that forum is known as “Shake n’ Bake”, he is modest, truthful, and always interesting.

Glad to see you here.

Don

Welcome Hudson! Glad to have you about.

[#welcome] John,

I am what you call a transplanted northerner, originally from Scranton Pennsylvania. Moved to Florida after getting out of the U.S. Army in 83.

Mainly I like O gauge but will do some S gauge or H.O. trains at times. I have some pre war and post war trains but don’t run them much as it is hard to keep them running, replacement parts for the motors like brushes are hard to get.

To help keep the joke running about Sandy, we have Sandy Claws(a cat with sand in his paws) down here, the big cat(Florida Panther) that roams Florida freely.

Lee F.

Welcome, Hudson [#welcome]

Always nice to see another Jersey guy here on the forum…[swg]

And, no, I’m all Yankee…[:-^]

FLORIDA, If my wife has her way about it,(she usually does) when I retire in 2yrs. 7mo. 9days, she wants to get a place in Florida, but keep the house in NJ. When I ask where the money is coming from to do both, she says to work more OT.

John

Tell her to work some more hours as well or get a job!!

House prices have fallen a whole lot here in south Florida, but stay away from condo’s(condo is another word for stealing from your banking account legally, if you live in one you will find out the hard way!). A house that used to sell for around $300,000.00 can be had for close to $170,000.00, the real estate market is in the buyer’s court right now.

Another thing that you may want to look at is called a time share.

Lee F.

Welcome. I’m in Philly. But we all can’t be perfect. [(-D] Speaking of grits and sweet tea, man that sounds good on a cold day like today. Hot grits with a pat of butter all they have up here is instant grits.

Geez, I’d figure you for either pork roll or scrapple…and a cup o’ joe[(-D]

[dinner] Yummy, yummy !

Crisp fried scrapple on plain ol’ white bread toast with butter. [^]

Lee F: She puts in the hours. My wife and her sister bought an ice cream shop about 5yrs. ago, that went from a good reputation to a bad one. They cleaned it up, improved the product, reinvested in updating the equipment, finished in the top 3 the last 4 years at the NJ Ice Cream Festival, business is constantly improving and the accountant congratulated them by telling them that they are now making about 55 cents an hour. ( he is a good friend of ours and loves to tease them ). Thanks for the info about housing in Florida. I agree with you about condos. One of our retireees moved to Citrous County, (Hope I spelt it right) and he described it as being close enough to everything without the congestion and traffic. A country like setting. We were planning on going to Florida this year and stop to see him, but he died this past September.

FOOD: The NEW JERSEY STAPLE: TAYLOR HAM, with or without EGG or CHEESE on a HARD ROLL (For those of you not familiar with a Jersey hard roll, think of a CRUNCHY KAISER ROLL.)
