Inver Grove Heights, MN CRI&P

-Beyond a siding and some signals, is there anything left of the yard or any buildings in Inver Grove Heights? Has it all been plowed over? The last info I had was that the city was attempting a green space in the area but Google earth is not really showing where any facilities would have been, outside of being able to see obvious signs of old trackage around IIRC 65th ave. I see the bridge’s days are probably numbered, and there is a tuck-a-buck located where the wye once stood…If anyone could offer up some historic information/photos about Rock Island facilities/operations in Inver and what spurs to nearby river industries are extant, it would be appreciated. I’ve exhausted Google, RITS, railpictures.net and twincitiesrailfan (?) and there is not much info.

I live on the other side of the Mississippi, I know the local paper had something about attempts being made now to preserve the CRIP bridge as a historical landmark. Beyond that I’m not sure what if anything is still there. SE metro area has being growing pretty briskly in recent years, I would suspect any buildings left there wouldn’t be around much longer.

? What is a tuck-a-buck?

Remember the Rock Magazine here a few years ago had a issue on the Rock in the Twin Cities. You might contact Andover Jct Publications to see if there are any back issues or not. Good luck!

Thanks, all.

I had a chance to look things over. Nothing is physically extant. The space has been plowed over as a park for the city and is fenced off. It was also on the Superfund list, assuming the list actually exists anymore. There is a two track siding off of the main line for car storage with the rails in dubious condition. They appear to hold cars there with bulk agribusiness commodities, possibly for transfer to barge. You can see the foundations in place where the roundhouse once was, but everything else is completely gone. The rails have been paved over on the cross streets, but the bridge is still in place until it will be removed. Some locals tell me that will happen next year. I’m guessing by the condition of the place it had not been used since shortly after the bankruptcy. Corrections/additions as you wish and thanks again for the replies.
