Why did they keep those front wings? Isn’t that more Chinese-looking than anything?
Smoke deflectors were fairly common near the end of steam in the US.
These steam trains are a lot of extra work for the railroad. The Iowa Interstate continues to impress with involvement in the communities they serve and helping railfan groups. I hope their communities treat them equally well when the railroad needs something.
