I hope Trains Newswire reports the dates of the Geneseo and Tiskilwa trips as I would like to buy tickets. I also hope they report any plans to bring NKP 765 to Illinois.
Also, I would love to see steam come to Peoria!
I met the CEO of IA while on one of the fan trips the QJ ran during the Rock Island event the other year. Very nice fellow!
There are some very interesting structures in Atlantic Iowa, in addition to the old Rock Island depot. The old depot in Tiskilwa still stands as well. Adding steam to the mix makes this worth investigating.
IAIS has been very supportive to its on-line communities and fire departments with these fundraising trips. It’s also a great way to invite people who have no first hand experience with steam locomotives or railroading in general. I have witnessed many of these events and always see a lot of smiles when the QJs are operating!

Thanh You so much for the “heads up” about IAIS upcoming trips this summer. I rode the steam trip from Mitchellville to Newton last summer with my family and have the most wonderful memories that will never be forgotten. Being able to " ride the Rock" mainline is like a slice of Heaven. A huge THANK YOU to Iowa Interstate Railroad for your kindness and efforts to provide memories that will last a lifetime!
Great to see more “Steam” to please/attract and educate the general public on not only the importance of the railroad in our nations development, but the massive power produced by “Steam”. UP, now more NS, and Iowa Interstate are looking at more and more “Steam”. Yes there are tremendous liabilities, expenses, but a exposure to the public in the way of good will, can never be priced. Trains, keep up the advice on the “Steam Runs” with as much lead time as possible to allow more people to attend the events.
This former Rock Island Line is a Mighty Good Road!
