I am planning a trip to the Chillicothe, IL. area on Sept. 4-5. I was wondering, does the Iowa Interstate railroad run trains in the daytime in that area or do they store their power near Chillicothe. Thanks for any info!
I have seen Iowa Interstate running in the day time between Chillichothe and Peoria hauling grain. They run on the old Rock Island tracks that run along route 29 & the Illinois River.
Yes they do. There is one that comes through New Lenox Illinois (east of Joliet) between 11:00AM and 1:30PM dependent on how much switching it had along the way. IT alway has a minimum of two freshly washed GP-38’s and it is always a mixed freight
