The Iowa Northern units look more like “real” Canadian Pacific units than the CP’s units do. ‘Action Red’ is boring.
How about adding more main track or even some sidings to relieve congestion instead of giving jobs away.
Finding a way to use exiting infrastructure more efficiently is giving jobs away? If the railroad industry still ran with that mentality, there would be no railroad industry, and no railroad jobs. Perhaps this is why Iowa Northern is able to survive where Rock Island couldn’t.
I have been fortunate to have seen and followed Iowa Northern from the beginning. They are a very creative, dedicated, experienced group of railroaders who are an asset to the communities and customers they serve. Dan Sabin and his team have solved problems and made opportunities for their railroad and Class I connections. I’m surprised some Class One hasn’t tapped Dan to run a major railroad.
