Great! Can’t wait.

At almost $8000.00 for the Initial trip to TX & back per person is just way our of line. Good Luck, but it is pricey. For that .kind of money, I’d be on the “Canadian”

And to think that I am about to abandon plans to go up to the NRHS convention in Iowa because the price of gas is so high.

for $8000. everything about the trip will have to be perfect:
service, timekeeping, cleanliness, food, train handling -
the client at that price point is apt to be very particular.

It will be great to see an IC painted unit! This is awesome news

Roger that David. All that rare mileage looked fascinating to be sure, but $8K’s more than I can justify.

We celebrated Valentine’s Saturday evening with dinner on NYC Dinner #448, very pleasant, very professional, food was delicious, David Duncan the Pullman host made us feel very comfortable, we and all our fellow passengers felt like we had slipped back to the “golden / classy age of fine railroad dinning”, do return !

Jim Wrinn must be one of the people in some of my pictures at Sturtevant. It looks like he was standing on the little wooden bridge with John “The Godfather” Dziobko.

Now, if only someone can get Amtrak to move the Lake Shore’s departure from Chicago up to 5:00 pm and take the 2 1/2 hours of “recovery” time out of the schedule the train could put you onto Manhatan’s 34th St. before noon. There may be a niche market for that. However, as things are now, I question how may people are will to ride all night and then all day and not arrive until 6:30 pm. As an example, consider the 18 miles btween Schenedtady and Albany, 2:00pm to 3:50pm. One hour and 50 minutes for 18 miles. Only the brass at CSX could love a schedule such as that. It doesn’t work for me.

Perhaps a letter writing canpaign to Michael Ward might embarass him enough for him to order his dispatchers to run the train the way it was run a half century and more ago.

Or even the Royal Canadian Pacific!

I’ve ridden in some of these cars and behind this E-8 in Globe, Arizona. I’m sorry to see that train gone to the mid-west and even sorrier that they are painting over the awesome Black Widow scheme it has been wearing. Still I’m glad to know that its still out there operating.

Great

Forget about IC colors, stick with the “stately” black widow colors ~ much nicer to the eye!

Glad to hear about this! I feel that the classic Illinois Central passenger colors made the best looking E-units ever! If only there was an E-6 to paint this way… Hmmm, the Rock Island fans would NEVER allow that now would they…
