A ‘Win-Win’, methinks. Any word on the North Creek-Tahawus leg’s prospects?
WDH: Not yet. We are watching for this, though.
How can a certain county and a certain town not in that county jointly own and manage anything?
Mr. Izzo, the partnership is a unique one that takes non-traditional (aka: outside-of-the-box) thinking to create and manage.
I’m surprised at this due to all the money Iowa-Pacific has rumored to have lost. I heard about $1,000,000 per year. I rode this line on a fantrip when it was owned by the D & H. Time for another visit methinks. Going to tie it in with a visit to the Adirondack Scenic up in Saranac Lake. Last year for that operation.
Wonder what the Albany Union newspaper thinks.
The Tahawas rock trains would rely on CP for a short move to the Albany area, that CP does not seem interested in.
This is the finest example of how EHH and the CP lie about open access. They refused the NS access to connect with the S&NCRR to the point the STB did not include it in the agreement of sale of the southern D&H. And EHH has refused to make any agreement to set a price of a freight rate for any movement of the waste stone from Tahawus former mine. There is good stone to mine that is in the earth below the present pile of waste that could be new ore traffic if and when the value of ore return and the overburden is shipped away.
I believe the ’ rock trains ’ could also interchange with the NS and PanAm Southern (PanAM Railway) at Mechanicsville, near Schenectady, along with a " short move " to the Port of Albany.
I believe the S&NC, the town and county are totally committed to making this work. Remember, Iowa Pacific is drastically increasing the frequency of it’s Dinner Trains. Eventually they will get co-operation from CP, one way or the other.
Robert, definitely time for another visit, cause there is NO comparison with Iowa Pacific’s operation, as it is totally
1st Class !! Also visit the Adirondack Scenic between Saranac Lake and Lake Placid, but I would caution you not to ’ scratch it off ’ as the last season, because the ’ battle ’ is far from over yet !!
KEEP THE FAITH, Mr. W Cook !!!
