Is Broadway Limited really Precision Craft? Or the other way around.

In the March, 06 issue of Model Railroader on page #21 there is a list of manufactures of model railroad equiptment, etc.

Broad Limited’s address is:
4 Signal Ave., Suite C
Ormond Beach, FL.[8D]

and

Precision Craft is
4 Signal Ave., Suite A
Ormond Beach, FL.

Now doens’t this smell fishey???

This either the bigest coincidence or Broad Limited is, well maybe, breaking off its steam business into another divison.

I didn’t know this, what do you think.

It’s one and the same business. IIRC, one of the principals sold out and the company moved from VA to FL. PCM has been doing HO & N models using the LokSound decoders rather than the QSI decoders in the BLI engines. Maybe just hedging their bets on how the MTH vs QSI lawsuit comes out?

Jim

I do think it has something to do with the MTH/QSI and MTH/Korea Brass lawsuits. The only real difference is that BLI uses QSI decoders, and PCM uses Loksound. The construction of the models is identical. There as talk of BLI going to the high end with die-cast and brass, and PCM doing the palstic, but obviously that isn’t happening, as the new PCM models are die-cast, and BLI is still producing plastic models as well.
Nothing fishy about it. I wouldn’t doubt there is actually a holding company at the top, with BL and PCM being divisions of that holding company.

Mergers and acquisitions have been going on in this hobby as long as I have been in it and probably a lot longer than that. It isn’t unusual to see the same product sold under two or three different brand names over the course of time.

Two companies, same management. Never a secret. Get over it.

Get used to it. I actually like it.

As long as they keep raising the bar on the quality, it can only benefit us.They are turning out some pretty nice models…so far.
