Is flex track repairable?

I was trying to grind off a piece of Atlas flextrack when the grinding wheel caught an edge and tore up a 2" section of the “fixed” rail. The track is glued down and I don’t really like the idea of replacing such a short section.

Any ideas on how to replace the rail into the molded “spikes”?

Thanks,

It is usually easiest to just replace a 3-4 inch section, BUT

It can be spiked down like handlaying if there is a sub bed to drive the spikes into.

It can be glued down, but keeping the gauge accurate is very difficult.

Use a cut-off disk and remove the rail(s) length that is/are unsuitable. Use a grinding device to remove the spike heads molded to the rails just cleared. Use CA, white glue, Weld Bond (Canadian Tire), or even Goo to fix the rail section you replace. Once you weather the ties and paint the rails, no one will know the difference unless they look closely for the missing spike heads.

If this is on a curve, …eeewwww.

If the rail and spike heads are not too damaged, you may be able to use super glue to hold it down.

My personal choice would be to replace it even if it is glued down.
