Is Hediger History?

Come on MR Staff! A few months ago, several members of this forum requested that the “History According to Hediger” videos be revived and continued. When are we going to see more of these videos?

My hunch is that Mr David Popp is a busy guy – since the Cody’s Office vids, which he also creates, have become less frequent as well. I seem to recall that they were making the videos before work and maybe there just is not that kind of spare time. And he lives a fair distance from the Kalmbach offices so he faces a rather long commute.

Jim is around – he gave an excellent clinic on fine tuning the layout and equipment at our local NMRA divisional meet a couple of weeks ago.

I will also chime in. Cody’s office seemed to be weekly when it started out if my memory is accurate and now it seems that we are down to bi monthly or less. The magazine is a great deal thinner than it used to be so it would seem that with half the pages we should also have half the editing needed as well. A great many of the items seem to be reruns of previously written material, collections of past articles in a new book for example, or new text for old designs etc. Not a bad thing just thinking it should take less time to do a repackage of material than to start from square 1.

Folks maybe you need to look at what is occupying the staff and see how it relates to the finished product as it would appear that something or things have arisen that are sinking the productivity of your organization. Many of the old magazines in the pre-digital era were more than 200 pages and I will add very well written and informative.

I would suspect that new technology as it relates to work is eating up a lot of time that folks are unaware of.

As to a long commute, I travel 107 miles each way for a total of 214 per day if I make no side trips, so I understand about travel time. It seems to me that a lot of us very much enjoy the product that is put out we just wish a bit more of it was available on a monthly basis both in the magazine and on the web site.
