I just recently purchased one, and they appear to have two names, a Dash8-40b and/or B40-8. Anyone know why?
It depends on how each railroad lists them on the rosters. Some roads list them as Dash 8 - 40Bs and some list as B40-8. It’s still the same locomotive. Same way if a locomotive is a Dash 8-40BW or B40-8W. Same locomotive.
Dash 8-40CW…C40-8W for six axled locomotives…etc etc
Hope this helps
Take care[:)]
THX… I like the b40-8 as it’s easier to say than the double dash.
The proper terminology would be to call it a Dash8-40B though some railroads for simplicity shorten this or change it around.
