That’s a big time and gas commitment and my wife would have to agree to watch the store.
I’ve only been to the October one (several times), and I can say - YES! to that one.
It’s about 3 1/2 hours each way for me.

I will be at the one in April 16,17 th and planning to do some shopping.
Look at is this way, I think it’s worth staying an extra 2 days 1200 miles from home.
Spacemouse,
I drive from Pittsburgh, Pa. area every January, leave 4:00am Saturday morning,
shop all day, go out to eat(went to Howard Zane’s layout once), go to bed at
hotel, shop till 3:00pm Sunday, four hours home. Deffinitly worth the ride.
Looks like I’ll be there Saturday. I have another engagement on Sunday.
Yes.
I think you all need to be clear on which show you are talking about.
There are two different groups that provide shows in Timonium. The GSMTS (Great Scale Model Train Show) hosted by Howard Zane, and there is the Greenberg Show (this weekend). In general I find the GSMTS to be much better than Greenberg - which allows other non-train stuff like dolls, etc.
If you’re talking about Howard Zane’s Great Scale Model Train Show in April, the answer is an unqualified “YES.”
Absolutely the best set of vendors ever, lots of great bargains, and you can meet Howard, who is a truly great guy.
If you have the time it is worth the trip to Howard Zane’s the GSMTS in April. If you can make both days thats even better. There’s lots of dealer tables, small mom & pop tables and it’s all trains, all scales. The really good part of the show is that there are no other “toys” . There are some really good layouts there to.

There’s a WORLD of difference between a Zane show and a Greenberg show. I’ve stopped going to most Greenberg shows - and I only live 1/2 mile away! But I agree with the others, a Zane show is certainly worth the drive.
This one is a Greenberg. I live closer to Dulles Expo, and I always have mixed emotions about going to those. I usually find nothing of interest, but every once in a while it works out. One or two vendors can make it worthwhile.
I probably wouldn’t do a 4 hour drive for it. I live about 90 minutes from Timonium and have pretty much dismissed it. I get back from vacation the weekend of Howard Zane’s next one in Timonium (April 16 & 17) and will probably get up early Sunday to go to it. Like some of the others said, Greenberg’s has non-railroad stuff and a lot of O-scale (I’m in N) and an awful lot of garage-sale type stuff. Sometimes its worth if for nostalgia, but I wouldn’t drive 4 hours for it.
I drive up to the Great Scale Model Train Show, usually 3 times a year - it’s a little over an hour. The summer show has been smaller than the other three, if you can only come once or twice I would pick one of the other three. The Greenberg Shows that I have been to in Timonium are not any better than the ones in Northern Virginia, okay but not worth a long drive.
I haven’t been to one yet, but I understand that the National Train Show put on in conjunction with the NMRA convention is very good and this year it is in Cincinnati. The web page is http://www.nmra.org/convention/trainshow.html
Enjoy

Just had to add that Greenberg’s show in Louisville was the worst I’ve been to. Our GATS show was definitely better.
First I’m getting talked into it, now I’m getting talked out of it.
Howard Zane=Good–>Drive
Greenberg=Bad–>Don’t Drive
Spacemouse, I belong to one of the clubs that set up layouts. I’ve been to both shows and Howards show is definitly worth the trip.
Chip: Exactly!
Howard’s show is definitely a good thing. Greenberg - heck, they do one of those not 5 miles from my house and I don’t go to that.
