Is the "Moderator Apporval Required" Problem Happening Again ?

One of my posts earlier this morning to the “scrap rail” thread got this message.

[EDIT: See more accurate details down below at around replies 6 & 7 to this.]

Anybody else, any other place, having this happen to them too ?

If it is any consolation, I have a different problem with this software, or else the server here and how it relates/doesn’t to it. I have to do a CTL/ALT/DEL at least twice a day to get out of IE because the screen freezes on a load. I get all the green bars, but no page load. and when I try to back-page I get no indication of a response.

The stock answer is to contact customer service…AGAINNNN!!!..and tell them what you are experiencing. They’ll get it fixed soonest.

Sorry.

Thanks for the quick reply - will do ! The form for CS inquiries is kind of cumbersome for this kind of thing, though.

I haven’t had the problem you’re describing, either at work or at home. I do have that kind of problem with Google Maps, MicroSoft Live Earth or Virtual Earth, the local newspaper’s on-line web page (a Flash script, it seems).

Thanks again. It was a really good post, too - I spent about an hour on it, only to then lose it into the Internet’s ether at random ? [:(]

About once a week this glitch gets me. Some of my “moderated” posts have never appeared. For a while I dutifully wrote emails to Customer Service at Crandell’s request, which were not answered. Since this is basically an entertainment device for which I pay nothing, I decided I have more important things to be irritated about.

RWM

I wrote to customer service about the service failures that have occurred during the last couple months. I got a reply with a lot of questions about the problem, which I answered. They said they would look into it, but seemed to have not heard about the problem before. I am sure that the forum operators would like it to run right just as the members do. And some problems might be easy to fix, but for them to fix them, they have to know about them. I would guess that we might experience problems that are not known to the administrators, so it would seem to be a good idea to tell them about any problems.

It seems natural to bring these issues up here if for no other purpose than to see if others are having the same problem. I have encountered the error stating that the message must be approved by the moderator. Once I made about six attempts to post, but all got this message. A few days later, all six attempts posted on their own automatically, and I went in and deleted five of them.

[shoulders lifted up in an exaggerated shrug…]

One thing that annoyed be immensely just after the roll-out last year was the tendency for images to take up the whole page, and then any responding text that I was typing to extend off the page to the right. That went away, thank the Big Guy, but it was back early this week!! [banghead]. The freeze-up I enountered was also recent, like in the past five days.

To those who don’t get a response from Customer Services, Bergie has publicly written here before that all members are fully welcome to send him a PM or an email directly. He is usually very prompt at getting back, almost always within 24 hours. As the Internet Publishing Manager for Kalmbach, he’s the go-to guy when you have persistent and protracted issues with forum use.

I wish I could offer you something, a tidbit, something concrete, about the various issues and what is being done about it, but I cannot. Sorry, it is way out of my province.

Well, it just happened again. To be accurate, here’s exactly what the message said - slightly different from how I titled this thread:

Post Pending Moderation

It’s the “Re: What kind of steel are the rails made from?” thread, started 03-17-2009 at 12:17 PM by Greg H., Page 3 of 3 (now), at:

Paul, I just went and took a look at your “status” in the Control Panel, and it shows that you are not being monitored/moderated. So, I can’t do anything…I thought maybe I’d find that it was somehow turned on, and that I could just alter the setting and save it…but nope.

-Crandell

Crandell / selector - thanks for your responses and efforts. And thanks to everyone else for your replies and insights.

I’ve been able to post a couple of things since and in the meantime, so I think it’s not “personal” or specific to me. Not sure if it’s related to the post I was trying to reply to - jeaton’s, which seems benign enough - or that thread, or what I was trying to post, which wasn’t that unusual for me - a couple of paragraphs and 2 links (only - not the documents themselves), both in PDF format - no images or anything else that might trigger an adverse reaction. So we’ll just see what happens going forward.

Thanks again. Have a good weekend.

It’s not moderation or anything like that… It’s just a bug. I PM’ed Bergie about it the first time it happened to me and that’s what he said… It usually only happens once in a while, and usually I can post on the same thread after reloading the page or something.
