Is the Toast ready yet?

it can go a while…its more of an issue of the engin running rich… incomplet combustion…its not a major mechanial brakedown issue…its not much differnt then the big billowing clouds of blue smoke you get out of an EMD that sits around a long time… im sure it will play hell with the injectors after a while with carbon build up…and possably clogging up some air intake fulters…but all and all…its just more an eye sore then an worry… you just go with it untill your run is done…and pass it off to someone else…at some point it will end up at the shop…and maybe fixed…

Now I have read stories about steam engine engineers getting into trouble when they were pulling a train and leaving town. It they made too much smoke the ladies would call and complain about the smoke and cinders getting their clean laundry (hanging on the closeline) dirty. When pulling into a yard wouldn’t someone notice a loco making this much smoke and bad order it?
