Is there a book on the history of Marx Trains, not a price guide but a history with lots of pictures?
Boy, there’s a lot to browse through on the web on founder Louis Marx and his creations…Looks like there’s a number of books out there that review the corporate history in the context of certain toy lines: toy soldiers, tinplate, etc. Haven’t seen something exclusively on the trains myself outside of tinplate reference books.
Here is a pretty good summation of Marx History. I was most impressed when I found it. I have written a number of guides on eBay many of which many are about Marx as well:

This looks like a great book. I have a Time magazine article from the 50s or 40s when Louis Marx was on the cover
Greenberg’s Guide to Marx Trains by Eric Matzke. Unfortunately it’s long out of print and very expensive on the open market. Typical going rate is around $100.
The Marx Toy Museum in Moundsville, WV (Glendale, WV) http://www.marxtoymuseum.com/index.htm may have a book. They have a DVD for sale. There are links to other Marx sites that have many pictures.
Another museum near Moundsville is the Kruger Street Station in Wheeling, WV. They host the annual Marx Collectors Convention in June. Several years ago, Mrs. Buckeye and took the guided tour where they explain many of the exhibits. This region of the country used to be a huge steel area and scrap steel was used to produce the Marx toys.
