Hey all,
I need to sell off my small train collection and was wondering if there is a marketplace forum here to list items for sale. I don’t see one and don’t want to break any rules by listing my stuff here.
Thanks,
Chris

No forum here, try eBay.
If going on the “Bay”, Please post the URL, I might buy some of your stuff.[8D]
That’s against the rules too… A PM would work much better.
I believe posting links to eBay auctions on this forum is also a no-no. Good idea, as it could be flooded with them all of the time.
HO Yard Sale group over on Yahoo is really good. You have to sign up, but there’s no fees or dealing Paypal or anything like that. Just post your (HO only) stuff and deal 1:1 with the buyers.

I don’t think posting that link violates any rules.
Thanks,
Just wanted to make sure. Sad thing is it’s all new in the box… just don’t have the time.
You might also look here at a couple of other forums that do allow it:
For Sale/Wanted to Buy

For Sale, Trade or Auction

Never say never… this has been on my radar for a while.

Hmmmm…[8)]
A buy, sell, exchange section could be entirely appropriate as a separate section, Bergie, within these forums. Folks may linger longer on this site - which would presumably be an advantage to your paid advertisers who can populate the far right hand column ==========>
Anyway, you migh seek to schedule a special after hours meeting with all concerned at Kalambach regarding this - the Shlitz are on me[:o)]

cool. I’d probably never visit it except to browse, but then, I rarely have the money to spend, so…
Of course, put the waiver up that “Trains.com is not responsible for any transactions completed over this site”. That’s what every other forum says. Just thought I’d mention that
Packers#1-It could also be a place for you to sell your unwanted train stuff so you WOULD have money to spend on more trains.[8D]
Bergie,
I belong to another hobby related forum ( RC Groups) and they have a buy and sell and wanted forum, and it is hugely popular and quite successful!
You might want to take a look at it for a reference.

All in favor, say “Aye”.
I just posted some brass locos for sale over there, but I ran into a problem in that they did not allow you to incude outside links that I have to display photos of the items.
Not sure exactly why a number of forums do not seem to like ‘crosslinking’…I guess because they are affraid of losing some of their members to other forums. I found this to be true on a couple of boatdesign forums I belong to. In reality there is a lot to be gained by the contributing members that may not visit one forum or the other for some particular reason, but may discovered they missed out on some good information by being confined to one forum.
And yes I would vote ‘yea’ for a marketplace. If none of the forums allowed this, then we’d be confined to deal strickly thru Ebay.
railandsail -Contact the moderator. I know I’ve seen links to folks equipment posted with their listings before. I don’t know what his policy is. I’m sure he’ll be happy to tell you what’s allowed and what’s not.
I made several attempts to post ads, but they were rejected for several reasons…primarly at first because I had a link in the ad to another forum where the phots were posted…
…and then most recently when I did not put a definitive price on an item, but said I would entertain offers.
I would like like to put a wanted ad for a particular Marklin baggage car to complete a set I’m working on, but I need to show those people the cars I’m trying to match. But I imagine I can not as that would be a link to another train forum.
Oh well…guess there have to be some rules.
true. Good idea, thanks. My parents would have to approve, of course, lol.
