Turnouts? Something similar to the MRR guide to couplers would be great. Seems this would be a tremendous help to folks who are planning trackwork.
I’m looking for something a little more in depth than " curved turnout by Peco, code 83 availible from Walthers" Something that lists dimensions like length, frog number, diverging angle and for curved turnouts the inside and outside radii. The Walthers catalog has some of this info and some can also be found at the mfg websites and in this fourm but it would be nice if it was all together in one place.
Something similar for crossings would be nice but those are easier to figure out with a protractor.
I can help you with one bit of info regarding Walthers/Shinohara curved turnouts: the larger radius designations are correctly indicated but the diverting (tighter) radius designations are 2’ too high, i.e., they are 30", 26", 22", and 18" in descending order, not 32", 28", 24", 20".
Go to www.handlaidtrack.com. This is the Fast Tracks website. On the left hand side of the page, you will find a link to templates that they use to manufacture their jigs. Click on your particular gauge and you will find templates for no end of turnouts of different sizes, Y’s, crossings etc. You can print off as many of whatever you require full size for your scale and use them as part of your track plan or you can even use them to build your own hand laid turnouts etc. Each page has all the technical data required for that particular turnout.
There are also many “How To” video’s that may be of help to you.
