Is there a website for trading and "In Search Of Model" RR items?

Is there a site or group where you can buy/sell/trade outside of Ebay? I’m looking for someplace where I can post stuff like “Looking for May 82 issue of Model Railroading” or “Want to trade Proto 2000 C&O SW9 switcher for same in PRR paint”.

I used to have www.trainstotrade.com, but nobody showed any interest in it. I saw in the latest MR an ad for ModelTrainBroker.com, but I have not visited the site.

I always thought that with the amount of people that try to post that stuff here that maybe MRR would set up something like that, but no such luck yet.

If they did I wouldn’t mind having to pay some “seller fees” in order to keep it running.

I am a member of a Audiophile site (spend way to much for stereo gear) and we had a trade and sell section. It was great, I trade or sold some ADCOM Preamps I no longer needed and picked up a great NHT sub and Amp. It was great and made friends. Then, the bad stuff started, people started to join the site for 1 reason, to sell there junk not talk stereo gear.

Then they made a rule you had to have 50 then 100 post before you could list gear you had for trade or sell. Next where postings like “Hi”" or “Neat” or “Cool” just to get there postings numbers up!

I would love to see a sight where you could trade train stuff, I have stuff that I will never use again. But poeple looking to make a quick buck and sell broken junk will find it and mess it up.

Here’s a link to a site that might be what you’re looking for:

You can view the threads by clicking on them, as you would here. To post your own stuff, click on the “New Thread” box, on the left side, just above the listing of threads. I believe that you need to register to post, but there is no fee. The entire site is model-railroad specific: to view a list of Forums, click on the first line of small print below the logo.

eBay does have a way to list items you are looking for. I’ve never used it, but it does seem like a good place to try, with all of the people who use eBay. Might be worth a look.
