Is this airbrush compressor good?

I have found a airbrush compressor that I like. It’s called SIL-AIR 15/D and it’s nearly silent. This is a page of it:

http://www.mattonbutiken.se/2/SIL-AIR%252015%252FD/sok-kompressor/KOMPRESSOR_SIL-AIR_15_D

Specs: Air 20 l/min, 6 bar/PSI, tank 4 l, 1/8 HP 135 W, 14 kg, 420 x 180 x 420 mm.

It’s fully automatic and made for 2 airbrushes.

I already have a Pachee H airbrush. What do you guys think about the specs? It’s pretty expensive (around 550 USD) but I really need a silent compressor so I can’t buy anything else.

It’s good as long as all you intend to run is an airbrush. From what I can see there, it weighs 30+ lbs, doesn’t have a large pressure reserve and is expensive.

I need the capability to run a nailgun as well as an airbrush, so I bought a Campbell Hausfeld 125 lb air compressor with a 3 gallon tank. It can run an airbrush for a long time before having to replenish the air pressure, and it only cost $100, plus the parts can be purchased locally, so I don’t have to order replacement parts from another country. Have you checked how much extra the shipping is going to cost you? I bet it’s more than just a little bit.

That the same compressor I use, the 3 gallon Campbell Hausfeld, Can be used for a long time on one run up, Ditto on what you said Jeffrey. It can be louder than some, but the overall usefulness negates that.

Forgot to tell. The reason I must have a silent one is because I do not live in my own house so if I use a regular compressor the neighbors will kill me.

I live in an apartment complex and have the 2/3 gallon campbel hausfield compressor. It isnt that loud and I havent had any compliants from the neighbors or the management! I highly recomend this for the money. The silent airs can be nice but will run constantly to supply air to the line thus breaking down sooner.

I recomend doing your self a favor and get the campbel hausfield, better bang for your buck. Though if you must get the silent air it is a good buy. just my 2 cents worth.

you could buy a campbell-haufield for $100 and build a noise reducing box around it and still not spend anywhere near $500

I’d go with the Campbell-Hausfeld and check with either Granberry or Grainger for a muffler that you can install on your compressor if noise is an issue. You’ll be happier in the long run and less money out of your pocket. You can buy that Genesis or BLI loco with sound that you’ve had your eye on with the cost difference. [:)]

You guys need to remember:

Electrolove is from Sweden, not the US. Parts for that one may be local to him.

Campbell-Hausfield compressors may not be exported to Sweden.

Having no idea what the exchange rate is, I couldn’t compare his price to what you’ve been quoting him.

Better yet you could get a cheap compressor and a couple tanks, unless you are into production work you would only have to run the compressor one in a blue moon, hay we used to run our guns off old tire tubes.

A guy in my club used to just use a 3 gallon tank he picked up for $30. He would have to go to the gas station and fill it up for 50 cents and it was usually enough to paint and clean the airbrush. Its a little inconvenient, but its cheap and quiet.

I feel that for the money you can get more bang for your buck. I have used the tanks and tires before and they are fine for short term use. I do not recommend them though, because of the pressure drop after 10 min of continuous use. I dont like having to constantly go to the gas station and fill it up. I highly recommend the use of a compressor, and the silent air is an excellent compressor but a bit expensive. If you’re only going to use it for hobby use and not professional use please find another option. I am sure you can get a small compressor from Wal-Mart.com or try looking at www.airbrush-depot.com or www.coastairbrush.com to find something to better fit your needs.

P.S. I know he is in sweeden but I believe both these companies will ship internationaly.

By the time he gets done paying shipping, customs (duty), & VAT, it’ll probably cost near the same

It has a regulator and a moisture trap so it’s a complete compressor, and sounds like a refrigriator when filling the tank. After that it turn off itself, fully automatic.

Before I bought my own compressor, I had (and still have) a 5 gallon tank like this. I had the air brush set up with its own regulator and used a standard 1/4 inch QD connector to attach it. We had a compressor where I worked, so it was just a matter of putting the tank in the car when I went to work and filling it there.

Recently I bought a TC-20 comperssor from AirBrush Depot. It is quiet, does a good job spraying and includes an automatic shutoff, moisture trap and pressure regulator. $129.98 plus shipping; they have a 240V model for $139.98. A much better compressor than my old Badger Whirlwind which finaly gave out on me after about 20 years use. [:D]
