Issue of Matched Engines

Always learning – posted this in the wrong forum – will repost in the right one. Thanx for noticing.

I have found it difficult to run matched diesels on my DC board as mine are all different. I have been told the best way is to simply purchase two identical locos but I think I have another idea. In the July issue of MR (page 53) is a picture of the “Laker” which seems to be followed by a power car. Long ago I can recall some passenger and freight trains being pulled by a similar combination. I have not seen any power cars at train shows nor in any ads in MR, but I have to assume that in real life these were matched to the main engines. Does anyone have any information on this subject - are power cars available somewhere? - all I have seen are “dummy” cars.

Are you talking about real trains or model trains? If you are talking about model trains, so it seems, you are at the wrong forum. I’m totally ignorant of the terms “DC boards” and “power cars.” Sorry.
