IT HAS BEGUN!!

well, we got the plywood/foam built and are ready for the next step!

I was wondering what order we should do things in next.

and if anyone has any tips on anything in the process!

Thank’s a ton!!

Get a really good plan.

the plan’s done that’s why we built the board

Lay the road bed track and roads. Show us some pics if you can of the progress.

what about the mountain? whould i o that before the bed and track?

Get your track running before you worry about anything else… You’ll be sorry if you don’t…

Jeff

Track first but that includes grades up and down the mountains. Get the turnouts laid, even if the track comes later. Then wire and get the turnouts working. Make sure the trains run very well. Then play with scenery. I like building a little at a time, thus Mt Sublime is beginning to look like a mountain and Mt Redikulus still is just track in the air.

John Allen build a large part of his mountains first with the road bed build right into it then layed the track.

hey thats good advice all
good to see that
hope the trains run well

hey, quick question: how wide is N scale suppose to be spaced apart is it 1’’ or 2’’ ?? or am i way off?

if you get your figers in between two box cars your
ok I’d go 2

John Allen Also had a lot of experience.

who’s john allen?

did that plywood workout
is it going like you planed

just wondering

it’s going good, we checked a local ad paper ( for fort wayners it’s pedelers post ) and are going to get some track today. we got part of the roadbed down so now it’s waiting on this guy to call so we can look and get the track and then getting the track we still need. but i’d say it’s going good, it’s deffenatly fun!!

John Allen was also working with different materials than we, in many cases, work with today.

Also, if you’re interested in finding out about John Allen and his “Gorre and Daphetid” railroad, go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GandD/.

well, we got it started and have AMI instant Roadbed down and the start of flex track, but we are wondering if
1.) we should soder the track together
2.) what kind of switches we should use(under the table or whatever’s cheap but look’s good.)

what kind of switches should we use? (that are cheap and DCC frindly)

Well, I’m going to a local N scale model railroading meeting here in fort wayne, IN. I hope me and my dad learn a lot!
