Itailian Trains

My grandpa just got back from his trip to Italy and he brought me some pictures back. Enjoy, and it would be cool if you could tell me what the are (example: EMD F40PH-2)

The first two photos appear to be the Italian high speed trains, the Eurostar Italia. The other photos might be commuter or local trains.

Place for looking up European trains seems to be http://www.railfaneurope.net/

Italian trains on railfaneurope:

From a quick perusal, it would appear that the first two last two pictures shows an ETR-500/P high speed electric passenger train engine - they are normally used in fixed sets of two engines (one on each end), and 10 (or 14) passenger cars in between. Dual or tripple voltage systems - used for international traffic Italy-France.

Third, fourth, fifth and sixth pictures (with the flatnosed train with the hump on top) would seem to be of a bilevel electric commuter EMU called a TAF (“Treno Alta Frequentazione” - “high capacity train”) - normal consist is two motorcars bracketing two trailers. The diesel switcher in front of the round tower would appear to be class 225 diesel switcher: http://www.railfaneurope.net/pix/it/diesel/shunter/pix.html

Browse around, and have fun trying to figure out what the others are.
