Its been quite a week along UP's Sedalia sub.

What a week for the railroad in my area. On the positive side, UP got some good press in the local (Sedalia, MO) paper when the new Katy heritage SD70ACE came through town. Sedalia was once the headquarters for Katy, a crossing and interchange point for Katy and MoPac, and maintains one of the most beautiful small town depots from the former Katy that I am aware of. It was nice to see the heritage unity pictured on the front page of the paper, thought I will admit that I personally have mixed feelings about those renewed paint schemes and their connection to all of UP’s legal issues of late (and I don’t mean to start that discussion again here).

On a much sadder note, I read today that two local men were killed when their car was struck by a west-bound Amtrak (the Missouri Mule) near here. I was out of town for a few days when it happened, so I only learned about it through a brief newspaper article this morning.
