As far as the polls, I take pride in the fact that I have avoided all of them thus far. My goal for next week is to open just as many as I did this week.

Maybe we should have a separate forum for polls. Sort of a, well, uh, poll vault.

Simple solution that I use is, if it is a poll I just skip over it and go to the next item. If a topic line doesn’t interest me, I don’t even read it. Overall, I probably only read one or two items per page.
Hey! I’m actually a Pollack! (I don’t care, I’ve heard them all) I’ve only seen about 3 or 4 that got my attension. I’ve never posted one myself. I was over checking out Kalbachs Scale Auto forum.WOW! That forum is organized a lot better than this one is. You can go right to a certain section and get a quick answere.

Back in the balloon-stack locomotive days, when the didn’t have telephones or the Internet, guys would ride around on horseback asking these kind of questions. That’s how the “gallop polls” got started.

What’s the matter with polls?
I just can’t see the big deal. Some of them are obvious conversation starters, while others seem to have a value as obtaining info from a cross-section of modelers.
In any case, I take a few seconds to glimpse at a poll. If it’s something I can answer, I’ll go ahead and cast a vote and move on in most cases.

Yeah, ther are bad polls, but there are also good polls!
