J.D. Irving eyes purchase of troubled MM&A

JD Irving is a high quality company and I hope they purchase the line. It would be the first time since the entire Montreal-Saint John line is owned by one company since the early 90s (having a full link would be beneficial) and they have a great safety record.

I wish the Irving’s well. They bring a class act to the table!

Why no mention of J D Irving’s petro refining and distribution?

It would be great news for the region in terms of aiding their economies, and I wish them well.

Mr. Hays:

If memory serves J.D. Irving is not part of Irving Oil. Same family different sector.

Can this be done without attracting litigation? I believe one of the reasons the various attempts to revive Pan Am as an air carrier (with no legal link to the bankrupt airline) was the cost of defense against frivolous litigation attempting to conflate the bankrupt entity with the revived entity.

J.D. Irving is in fact a very succesfull trucking company. He realized that his fortunes is in fact tied to the best method of movement which can be either truck or rail and building some transfer locations where they can do truck to train or train to truck would increase his business.

Well, if anyone can run this properly, J D Irving Co comes to mind

E.B.Eddy of Hull Que. many years ago built a railway to run up the Ottawa Valley and across Ontario to Georgian Bay at Parry Sound to futher his lumber empire. It makes good sense for business men to ensure a continued supply of resources to further their goals. Why leave every thing up to Governments. The key word is PROFIT.

Would not be surprised if CP was interested in getting this line back now that the new oil business is in the picture. Not the MM&A company, just the assets at bankruptcy sale.
