I just finished a couple new figures. One is an engineer for my Bachmann 4-6-0, based on my father-in-law. I had to take a few liberties with the anatomy in order to make him fit the notoriously cramped cab of the 4-6-0. I still need to make him some glasses… . . . . .
. . . . The next item is a jackrabbit! I plan to make a few more of these little guys to populate my desert layout… . … .
. . . . .
.
Excellent artisanship my friend. That “tree(?)” behind Mr. Rabbit, is it real, or another piece of your artwork?
I made it. It’s supposed to be the “skeleton” of a dead cholla cactus.
I thought I recognized it, but it seemed a bit “short” to have been crafted by Mother Nature. I could not make up my mind whether it was stunted growth or you had raided a coral reef, which I doubt you ever would. Nice work.
Here’s a shot of the engineer in the cab of the loco: . It was tough getting him in through the window. He’s less flexible now than when I was making him. I’ll probably forget about giving him glasses, as they would be too delicate and likely would be damaged. I just finished making a 1/24th scale replica of a chuckwalla. That’s a type of large, fat lizard that lives in the desert. They can get up to 18" long: . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . I’m going to have a lot of desert wildlife on the layout eventually, and then when we have visitors I’ll put up a sign listing them and inviting people to see how many they can spot.
Please allow me to paraphrase that old Memorex audio tape commercial.
Is it real, or is it Ray?
LOL! Thanks!

Thanks! Yes, I plan to put one on display inside a store or saloon (prototypically); but I also may have a “free-range” jackalope somewhere on the layout.
Ray: Please be advised, I have it on solid scuttlebutt that a “North County” neighbor is training a platoon of Papillions to retreive “little people”. (Papillion = 3 pounds of fur and bark, and, yes they bounce when they bark) I have acquired a picture of the Platoon Leader and the Platoon Sergeant.
Heheh! The people of Dos Manos tried calling out the National Guard, but due to budget cuts all they got was a squad of attack lizards.
Hope you are building a photographic record while building these characters to share with us neofites.
Tom & Ray,
Just a quick drop in to pass on some info, seems as a “Garden Layout” may be in the works for the SD Model RR Museum (again). Hopefully it will come to fruition.
