Friends of mine are developing an area near the Mitsui project for hauling containers to and from the new port. What they are projecting will impact the rails and trucks by very large amounts.

Did the USN base in Jacksonville get shut down in a base closure, or is this just an addition to the area? I had heard Ciecil Field was going away, but haven’t kept tabs on all the closures…

Cecil Field was closed as a Navy base several years ago. A recent effort to return it to an active navy base was voted down overwhelmingly by the local voters. Mayport where the ships dock and N.A.S. Jax are still operational. Word has it that they will be expanding N.A.S. Jax.
